In-House Uniform Cleaning

Thai White Formal Uniform Cleaning in Bangkok

Ceremonial white uniforms cleaned, whitened at the collar and cuffs and pressed to a sharp finish — with the insignia, shoulder boards and metal buttons handled properly.

The two things that go wrong with a white uniform

A Thai formal white uniform is worn a handful of times a year and stored for the rest of it, and both halves of that cycle leave a mark. Worn, it collects perspiration at the collar and inside the cuffs, which oxidises to a yellow line that ordinary washing sets rather than removes. Stored, the whole garment yellows slowly — from residual detergent left in the fibre, from the plastic cover it was hung in, and from Bangkok humidity working on both.

The second problem is the hardware. Metal buttons, shoulder boards, collar insignia and rank markings are frequently not removable by design, and they tarnish, snag or distort under a normal cleaning cycle and a normal press.

We clean these uniforms in-house, treat the collar and cuffs as a separate job from the body of the garment, and press around the hardware rather than over it.

How we handle a white uniform

Send a photo of the uniform and its insignia on WhatsApp. We confirm the price and the turnaround before collection, and we tell you in advance if a mark is not going to come out.

  1. 1

    Hardware off, or hardware protected

Buttons, shoulder boards and insignia are removed where they are designed to be removed, and shielded where they are not. We photograph the arrangement first so everything goes back exactly where it was.

  2. 2

    Collar and cuff treatment

The yellow line is oxidised perspiration and needs a targeted whitening step, not a stronger wash. This is done by hand and checked under light before the garment goes any further.

  3. 3

    Whole-garment brightening

Storage yellowing is spread evenly across the fabric, so it is corrected across the whole garment — otherwise you get a clean collar on a cream-coloured jacket, which looks worse than before.

  4. 4

    Press and hang

Pressed to a sharp finish with the creases where the uniform's own construction puts them, then hung and covered. Never folded — a fold line across a white jacket photographs badly.

What we check first

Uniforms differ by department and by era, and an older uniform behaves nothing like a recently tailored one.

  • Whether the white is a true white or has already shifted to cream, because those need different correction and only one of them is fully reversible.
  • Whether buttons and insignia are removable, stitched through, or bonded to the fabric.
  • Gold or silver braid, which tarnishes under the wrong chemistry and cannot be re-plated afterwards.
  • Existing heat-glazing from a domestic iron — a shiny patch on white fabric is permanent damage, not dirt.
  • Any repair the uniform needs before cleaning, such as a loose button shank that will tear the fabric in the machine.

What we will not promise

A uniform that has yellowed evenly over many years can usually be brought back several shades, but not always to the white it left the tailor as — and we would rather tell you that before you pay than after. We also do not bleach these garments. Chlorine bleach on a poly-cotton dress uniform reacts with the fabric and turns it permanently yellow, which is exactly the outcome you were trying to fix. If someone quotes you a price for bleaching a white uniform, that is the wrong shop.

Timing

Next-day as standard, same-day if we collect before 2 PM. Collar whitening on a badly set stain sometimes needs a second pass, and we would rather take the extra day than return it half-corrected — if that applies to your uniform we will tell you when we quote, so you can decide against your ceremony date.

White uniform questions

Which shops dry clean Thai white formal uniforms?

We do, in-house. It is a specific job rather than a general one: the collar and cuffs need separate whitening from the body of the garment, the metal hardware has to come off or be shielded, and the press has to follow the uniform's own construction. Any shop that treats it as an ordinary white jacket will hand it back with a clean body and a yellow collar.

How much does it cost to clean a white uniform?

The jacket is 300 THB, trousers or a skirt are 150 THB, and a full set is 500–700 THB. Pickup and delivery is a flat 100 THB per trip. Uniforms with gold braid or embroidered rank insignia are quoted from photos.

Can the yellow collar line be removed?

In most cases, substantially — it is oxidised perspiration, and it responds to targeted treatment far better than to repeated washing, which tends to set it. How much comes out depends on how long it has been there and whether anyone has already ironed over it, because heat fixes it into the fibre. We assess it before quoting rather than guessing.

Do I need to remove the insignia and buttons myself?

No. We photograph the arrangement, remove what is designed to be removed, shield the rest, and put everything back in the same position. If you would prefer to remove them yourself you are welcome to, but it is not required and it is the step most likely to damage the fabric if done in a hurry.

Can you clean it in time for a ceremony tomorrow?

Usually yes, if we collect before 2 PM, with a 100% express surcharge. The exception is a heavily set collar stain that needs a second treatment. Tell us the ceremony date when you send the photo and we will tell you honestly whether same-day is realistic for your garment.

Should I just wash it at home to save money?

For a lightly worn uniform with no collar marking, a careful cold hand-wash is genuinely fine and we will say so if you send a photo. The reason to send it to us is the collar line, the storage yellowing and the hardware — those three are where home washing turns a repairable uniform into a permanently cream-coloured one.
