Flight day: getting your dress to Bangkok safely
For destination weddings, your wedding dress travels with you. Most airlines accept wedding dresses as carry-on hung garments — you can hang the dress in cabin closets on long-haul flights to Bangkok. Coordinate before departure: contact your airline's customer service the day before; explain you have a wedding dress and want to pre-arrange cabin storage. Most international carriers (Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways, ANA) accommodate. Pack the dress in a soft garment bag that hangs cleanly. Avoid checked baggage if at all possible — wedding dresses get crushed and stained in checked bags. If you must check, ensure it's in a structured wedding-dress box and clearly labelled fragile + this side up.
Bangkok arrival care
Once in Bangkok, hang the dress in your hotel suite immediately. Most hotels with bridal suites or wedding packages will provide a clothing rack and steaming service on request — ask housekeeping. Inspect the dress for any travel wrinkles or marks. Bangkok's humidity (73% average) actually helps fabric relax and travel-wrinkles disappear within 24 hours of hanging. Don't expose the dress to direct sun (UV yellows fabric over hours). Don't store in plastic — breathable garment bag only. For heavily wrinkled dresses, professional steaming is available from most luxury hotels (700-1,500 THB), or we can collect, steam, and return the dress in-house with our flat 100 THB pickup and delivery.
Pre-ceremony preparation
1-3 days before the wedding: final inspection. Check for any visible stains from travel (food, drink, makeup transfer from hands or fittings). If small marks are visible: send the dress to us for spot cleaning (fast turnaround possible — tell us the wedding date) rather than risk a stain on the photos. We handle this in-house and prioritise pre-event work. Day of wedding: dress comes out of the bag 2-3 hours before the ceremony. Have your bridal team check zippers, buttons, and trim. Keep the dress hanging on a sturdy rack until the photographer's planned getting-ready shots. Don't sit in the dress before the ceremony (creates wrinkles).
After the ceremony: post-event handling
Immediately after the wedding, treat the dress carefully: (1) Hang in a breathable garment bag, not crushed in a suitcase. (2) Don't fold tightly for any extended period — sets wrinkles. (3) If you'll be in Bangkok for 2+ days post-wedding, hang in your hotel suite and let it relax. (4) Within 7 days post-ceremony, send it for professional cleaning. Stains set permanently within 30 days if untreated; even invisible stains can yellow over months. For destination weddings, the smart play is sending for cleaning BEFORE flying home — we clean and preserve in-house and pricing is favourable.
Cleaning timing for destination couples
If you have 2-3 days post-wedding before flying home: send the dress to us immediately. Cleaning typically takes 10-21 days; we can ship the cleaned dress back to your home country (cost varies, typically 1,500-3,500 THB international shipping for a properly packed dress). If you have 14+ days post-wedding, you can wait for the dress and bring it home in your luggage. We coordinate post-cleaning shipping directly. Cost-benefit: cleaning in Bangkok (our in-house cleaning from 2,500 THB vs $250-500 USD at US specialists) often saves money even after factoring international shipping. We collect from your hotel for a flat 100 THB whenever it's convenient.
Honeymoon care
Going on honeymoon from Bangkok before sending the dress home? Two options: (1) Send it to us for cleaning + preservation BEFORE honeymoon, then we ship it to your home country to arrive while you're away. (2) Bring the dress on honeymoon (in a sealed garment bag, not actively used) and send it for cleaning when you return to Bangkok pre-flight home. Option 1 is logistically cleaner. Option 2 keeps your luggage simpler during honeymoon. We can hold the cleaned and preserved dress securely for 1-2 weeks at no charge if pickup timing doesn't align with your departure.
